Cybersongs
Barbara Ellison
2023
"CyberSongs is a 'transhuman song cycle for human-like computer voices' by composer/artist Barbara Ellison. She delves in this work into the sonic intricacies of voice avatars and the ‘musicalisation’ of TTS (Text-to-speech), a type of speech synthesis application that is used to create a spoken sound version of raw text in a computer document. In the 13 tracks of this album, she creates hypnotic textures of vocal utterances through the intensive and extensive use of repetition, as tools and materials to give rise to surprising audible phenomena of a fascinating and odd musicality. Words, morphemes, phonemes, phrases and speech particles acquire constantly-shifting new aural meanings, turning into the rhythmic, melodic and harmonic patterns of the obsessively phantasmatic trans-human song cycle of the ‘CyberSongs’."

The Body Imitates the Landscape
Claudio f. Baroni
2020
"The music on this album originates in the interactive sound installation The Body Imitates the Landscape by artist Adi Hollander: she designed a collection of ergonomic objects that are meant to transform music into vibrations felt through the entire body. Hollander was inspired by the Japanese book Karada by Michitaro Tada about the ‘school of the body’. Hollander and Claudio F. Baroni made a live version of the installation where Baroni’s music, performed by Maze, was experienced live by the public. As it was channeled through the objects, the public could at once hear the music in the space and feel it in their bodies."

Pavilion
Yannis Kyriakides & Andy Moor
"“The music they produced is much more jagged than the clean lines of the room in which they made it, but it nonetheless feels like it was sculpted to emphasize textures and shapes, instead of the melodies that define the duo’s other work.” -Bill Meyer, Chicago Reader, June 5th, 2020"

Motum
Claudio F Baroni
""Motum" means motion, and this is a central theme in the 3 pieces by composer Claudio F Baroni on this album. The concept is central to Baroni's work, and is explored musically and formally in his layered, dynamic, sophisticated style. The breathtaking pieces are taking the listener on a meandering path, starting from the origin of sound. Motum is Baroni's second collaboration with Unsounds. With liner notes by Samuel Vriezen."
Untitled #2 (The Mute)
Jessica Sligter & Wilbert Bulsink
"Centering on the idea of voicelessness, The Mute explores a concept that can be investigated acoustically, but that can also be approached in social terms. How can those who have no voice in our society be heard?"

Ob-Literate
Zeno van den Broek & Gagi Petrovic
"In the summer of 2014 Gaudeamus brought together audio-visual artist Zeno van den Broek and composer Gagi Petrovic and commissioned a large scale composition project. The electro-acoustic piece Ob-literate is the duo's resulting work for organ, vocal ensemble, electronics and custom built performative objects."
